playing catch up… Paris day one

This is going to be picture heavy. Paris is just wonderful, I would totally live here. Note to self: learn French. This means, stop trying to pronounce words as if they are Spanish, they are not.

This is my first French meal. The food is so good! Did I mention I want to move here? Lots of markets where you can just walk over and get your food for the next day or two. Everything looks so yummy!

The Eiffel Tower is ginormous. There is no way to describe it. You will just need to go and see if for yourself.

The Arc de triomphe is another monument that is so much bigger than you realize. The detail on the carvings are so intricate and so beautiful.

Here is a typical city street. The buildings are so amazing old and beautiful!

Before I forget. We have been staying at this really great hotel. Super close to everything! It’s called the Hotel Saint Dominique. I would absolutely stay here again.

That’s it for now. I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

quick post

I woke up super early this morning. Just can't sleep anymore. Why? Cause I am leaving for Paris and then Sunday we hop in a car and drive through Europe (specifically France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland -- not in that order)! I am so excited I can't stand it. Plus, my husband has been their for a week already and I will get to see him.

Here are a few pictures that have been sent over to me by my brother.

This one was sent from Joe. Apparently this is outside our hotel.

Can you believe how close the Eiffel tower is? He said it is less than a mile. OK, gonna get this day moving!

a little trip to europe

I am leaving for France (and some other random countries) on Thursday and I feel like I have mountains of things to get done. I was able to run a few errands today, but I know I am still behind on my to do list. On top of that my in-laws will be in town tomorrow evening and I am meeting some friends for dinner on Tuesday. That leaves Wednesday evening to make sure everything is in order before I leave. Oh, and I'm not complaining about getting to see family and friends the next two nights just illustrating my lack of time.

Anyway, Joe is already there. We are meeting in the middle of our trip. Long story... for another day. But we will be spending a few days in Paris together before he leaves and I hop in a car to roam the countryside with my family. Here is a picture of Joe living it up in first class on his way to England.

I may call later this week to see if getting an upgrade is even possible without costing me an arm and a leg. We'll see. OK, off to clean up cause the house looks a wreck and I have visitors tomorrow.

And just to show that I am still knitting. Here is a pic of my first toe up sock.

better than spiders...

I finally got around to washing and blocking the Clapotis yesterday. It actually took me a while to work the washing machine in individual cycles instead of just letting it run... I tend to be a bit mechanically challenged. Here it is soaking in the wash.

After I spun it dry I pinned the corners since they were curling like crazy. It's amazing how just doing that made them lay nice and straight.

I wore it to work today and received several compliments. It's nice that people seemed to like it, whether they realized I knit it myself or not. Oh, this is not the outfit I wore to work, I try to be a bit more coordinated for that. I like the odd crookedy arm I have going on. It's harder than one would think to take pictures of yourself.

Last Saturday I returned my two foster bunnies to Animal Control. It was time, I needed my room back and they needed to be in homes where they could get more one on one attention. Here is the aftermath of empty cages. I started the cleaning up and dismantling yesterday.

One corner down! We broke down that big black piece on top of the other enclosure as well and chucked in the trash. Gone! Now I need to go work on the other one and maybe get a desk in there. I will miss those girls, but it's nice to have my room back.

the spider’s are coming

I am beginning to feel a bit like the spiders have a vendetta against me. To begin with, I have an insane fear of them so it would be nice if they would just leave me alone. They can hang outside all they want, but pleasepleaseplease do not come into my home. Is that asking too much? Apparently.

So, the vendetta thing. A couple of weeks ago I was home alone and I found one of those big, fast, icky wolf spiders sitting right next to the laundry basket in the bedroom. What to do? I am home, alone, with no one to kill the spider and their is no way I can sleep at night knowing he is running around the house somewhere cause you know he’s not waiting around for Joe to get home to be squished. So I decide i am going to have to take care of him myself. I am terrified. I first decide to throw a magazine on him and that should be that. Well, apparently the carpet was soft enough that he just sprinted out from under that thing and RIGHT AT ME!! Now I’m completely freaked out and trapped in the bathroom. Oh, and there may have been some screaming involved. Awesome! I realize I need to use much heavier arsenal, I mean I really cant get close enough to him to step on him cause he might eat my leg jump on me… it could happen. I throw my text book at him and he runs out from under it as well, but this time he heads in the other direction and out onto the wood floor. Wrong move icky spider. The textbook is tossed again and that is that. Of course, for the rest of the evening I had to walk around that book and knew that it was going to come out and get me. Paranoid much?

That would have been the end of that, except two days later his smaller friend was sitting in the SAME EXACT spot on the floor. I sent Joe to get him. Another one down. Then, on Friday I am happily driving home, minding my own business when I look at the steering wheel and realize a teeny tiny miniature spider is attached to said wheel and floating towards me. I know, he’s tiny, I mean really tiny, but the phobia is strong and I am panicking. Must not let it touch me. I manage to destroy it with my phone and continue home without side swiping anyone. Then, today, I am leaving a friends house and see something out of the corner of my eye and their is another spider dangling from the ceiling of my car. Are you kidding me! I was able to stop in the neighborhood and get him out with a piece of paper. Oh! I almost forgot the other one… Joe drove my car on Tuesday and it was pouring the rain so he was using the umbrella. When he put the umbrella back in the car a huge spider crawled out from inside of it. Joe assures me he got it out of the car before it crawled off the umbrella and into the nether regions of my car.

That is five spiders in two weeks. I haven't seen that many in my house this whole fall and winter, possibly the past year. I am not happy and really feel like something is crawling on me just writing this. *sigh* I need to get back to the Sunday cleaning, but maybe some knitting is what I really need!
