Sticks!

Look! We have sticks! Now the house building is getting exciting. Everything is looking really good. We did have to call the builder and let them know that they had framed two windows we had deleted (these were in the master bedroom). Other than that everything looks really good.

Rough day

Not much to talk about right now. We just finished up a long day of moving out of our house. There are still some small items left. Well, one not so small item is the big screen TV that just wouldn't fit into Joe's car after the Uhaul went home. I think Joe is going to rent a small truck to get that and the rest of the random items there. Thanks to everyone who helped! Appreciated it!!

Oh and for those who were not there we only had one disaster. And no, it was not the giant armoire... it was the really cool fish fireplace out back. It went to the big fishie pond in the sky. Oh well, I am sure it could have been a lot worse. On that note, I am off to sit on the couch and relax.

Good night!

random

I think Joe is getting me one of these for my birthday!

In return I am getting Joe one of these.

And I can't seem to get this song out of my head... click on the link that says "Watch this movie" over to the right.

Progress... sort of

There has been a small amount of progress on our new home. We drove by Friday night and the whole thing was covered with plastic, which we saw as a good thing. We were assuming they were trying to keep the dirt dry so they could lay the slab.

This is what it looked like today. The plastic has been removed and they have graded all of the dirt inside the foundation. We dropped by MI and they said there should be a slab down sometime this week. Yeah!

We have also started moving some things into our new apartment. A friend of ours was moving yesterday, so we comandeered her Uhaul and moved some of our furniture and a bunch of miscellaneous items. Today we moved two car loads of boxes over as well. We figure the more that gets moved before Sunday (our official move day) the better. Our last day in this house will be January 27th... it will be sad to leave our first home, but it is all for the best!

Eye news

I talked to Mom tonight and she had good news! She went to eye doctor today and he said that everything was looking good and that she should be able to raise her head up next week (I believe she said Monday or Tuesday). Anyway I do recall she said that would make it 12 days of face down non-activity which is much better than the full two to three weeks it could have taken. Nice to hear that this stint is over even though there will be more to come.

Old home news

Am I calling it the old home now? I guess so... the contract issues are almost resolved and it will be a huge relief to be done and out. Although I am not looking forward to several months in an apartment, at least that journey will be over.

Are current issues are the appraisal and the inspection.

The appraisal almost worked out, except for the fact that it was appraised for $1000 less than what the buyer agreed to pay. Crap! So, there are several options all of which are manically being pursued. First the buyer has asked the appraiser to come back and take a second look at the shed, since the shed was not listed on the initial appraisal. If that doesn't work then the buyer will check with the bank to see if a $1000 difference will even matter... personally I would have done that first, but that's just me. The next option is to have a second appraisal which the buyers realtor has offered to pay for... commission checks are a good thing! The absolute last resort would be to lower the price of the house and negotiate it back on something else i.e. the fridge etc.

The inspection went much better. He found just a few minor things, such as minor window seal problems and minor wood damage on the front of the house. The buyers have only asked that we repair the one piece of wood damage and leave the rest. Anyone know a handyman???

So now it is a waiting game, but this is pretty much a go as far as we can tell. Joe will most likely by signing our apartment lease and getting that all squared away. We have also started a list of all the address changes we need to make and service changes as well... it is becoming quite a list!

Long overdue

What has been going on for the past few weeks?? Christmas for one... Joe and I had two Christmas' this year. One on Christmas eve with his family and one on New Year's eve with my family. We had a great time and received wonderful gifts... Thanks everyone! I will be sending out thank you cards this week. At least, that is my goal...

Mom had surgery on Wednesday, the 4th for the Macular Hole in her eye. You can find more information on that here. The surgery itself seems to be fine at this point, however, Mom has to be in a face down position for two to three weeks until the bubble of gas that has been placed in her eye (See the link for more info) has disapated. The picture is Mom in sitting face down in the apparatus, for want of a better word, so that her eye can heal properly. She also rented a device that she can sit in instead of the chair and she has some bolsters that are supposed to help you sleep face down as well. Although, I hear that on the first night she flipped over onto her back and Dad had to wake her up! This is not the greatest, but if all goes well she will be able to see out of her right eye. The bad part is is that she will have to undergo this same surgery for her left eye in the not so distant future.

On a lighter note, I finished this Lizzie Kate set of blocks in December! I am actually missing a button that I lost, but otherwise it is ALL DONE. Yeah for me!

Here is a work in progress that I have been working diligently on all weekend. She is coming along quite nicely and I really would like to have her completed in the next few months. Although, with all of the house stuff that is going on it might take longer than I would like. For those of you who are interested her name is Earthdancer by Butternut Road. I will definitely be posting updates of this one.

I love cows!

I have to go to work, but when I come home I promise to post a bit more... meanwhile, here is something fun to read: Cow!
